He also has calcifications in his tail, but these do not appear to cause him any discomfort. In spring 2026, at 9 years of age, spondylosis was discovered in his spine as an incidental finding, but he has never shown any clinical signs or been affected by it.

About Six
Six comes from Swim’s first litter, and he is my sixth Flatcoat—hence the name. I had hoped he would inherit some of the qualities I have loved in Swim, as well as those from his dam Rally, but Six has unfortunately shown somewhat limited hunting drive, at least when it comes to dummies. Because he also became a bit affected in formal trial settings, Six was retired early from competition.
That said, he absolutely loves being out on pigeon shoots, where there is certainly no lack of hunting drive—if anything, it is the most exciting thing he knows.
In training, he is brilliant and clearly enjoys what he is doing, up to about five retrieves. After that, he tends to become more interested in searching for something edible instead. So we simply stick to a few retrieves at a time, and both of us are perfectly happy with that arrangement.
In everyday life, he is an absolutely wonderful dog—kind, easygoing, very charming, and uncomplicated. The clown of the pack! He is also an excellent running companion, both for skiing and cycling. He has truly worked his way into my heart, and I am very grateful for this lovely dog who brings joy every single day.
Not every dog can become a star in the field, but they can still shine in everyday life 🌟
Fun Facts
Six is a master at opening doors—both ways! Not only does he do it when he wants to get to someone on the other side, but if we are not paying attention, he will happily open every door in the house just to take a little tour.
When Six wants to get onto the sofa, he prefers to walk around it and jump up over the back of it.
